Robert Thompson: Schumann Piano Concerto

  • Joanne Dodds The Three Spires Suite - World Premiere
  • Schumann Piano Concerton - Soloist: Robert Thompson
  • Brahms Symphony No. 3

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lichfield Sinfonia, Joanne Dodds has composed a suite which takes for its inspiration the history of Lichfield: the besieged Cathedral, Lichfield customs and traditions, and its famous sons, Samuel Johnson and Erasmus Drawin.

Joining Lichfield Sinfonia for the Schumann Piano Concerto is Robert Thompson, who is equally at home as a soloist or chamber musician. Recent engagements include appearances as soloist at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, the Leeds and Nottingham International Piano Series, and chamber music performances at The Sage Gateshead and in Hong Kong and SOuth Korea.

Robert studied at Chetham's School of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music. In 2010 he completes his Masters with Peter Frankl at Yale University where he recieved the Charles S. Miller prize for outstanding work.
